Job Summary:
As the Accounting Manager you’ll be responsible for the integrity of the company’s account and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is a detailed oriented, accomplished accounting professional with a history of leading finance functions within a fast-paced organization. Primary responsibilities include ownership of the accounting / finance department though driving financial projections and modeling and overseeing all accounting and finance functions including; closing process, customer billing operations, accounts receivable management, accounts payable, payroll, insurance and risk management, as well as being responsible for all technical accounting research and treasury administration. The Senior Financial Accountant will also be part of the team that creates and implements controls, policies and procedures across all operating areas of the business. This position reports directly to the Head of Finance.

Your Role:

Oversee and administer

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and entering transactions in accordance with GAAP 
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Support business leaders with innovative financial analysis and present compelling, data-driven insights to help the business make more informed decisions
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders and become a trusted advisor to develop an in depth understanding of business drivers, costs and revenue
  • Annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting
  • Manage year end audits along with statutory filings in a variety of jurisdictions 
  • Accounts payable
  • Payroll and expense reimbursements
  • Accounts receivable processing and customer communication as needed
  • Journal entries and trial balance preparation along with supporting documentation
  • Develop and maintain department process documentation

Responsible and accountable for all areas of revenue recognition and revenue operations including:

  • Billing and collections
  • Contract review
  • Revenue recognition
  • Sales tax liability review
  • Updating internal reports

Responsible and accountable for all aspects of GAAP financial reporting

  • Review of technical accounting matters
  • Preparation of standard monthly management reporting package (including board material support)
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements

Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Required Experience:

  • 5 + years of financial preparation experience ideally in a fast paced, high growth software or technology company.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Strong US GAAP, ideally with a strong understanding of recurring revenue and ASC 606 Revenue Recognition for Contracts
  • Excellent analytical abilities, problem solving skills and business acumen
  • Strong financial and business modeling skills with experience building financial models
  • 2+ years of payroll accounting experience 
  • Active CPA licensure preferred
  • Accounting degree (BS/BA required, MSA/MBA preferred)
  • Experience with sales tax
Fluency is headquartered in Vermont.  This position is remote US based.  If local, you have the option to go into the office.
